Mission
The Midwest Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association was founded in 1989 to fulfill the mission of APDA: "ease the burden, find the cure". We strive to improve the lives of people with Parkinson's, their caregivers and family members by providing education, creating public awareness, fostering a supportive environment and raising funds for research.

What Do We Offer?
Our office location at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare's Glenbrook Hospital puts us in a premier spot! Dr. Michael Rezak, Director, Movement Disorders Center and Functional Neurosurgery Program is our Medial Director. He is the director of the Parkinsons "Early Detection Center" which he helped found.
In addition, we have the added benefit of Glenbrook Hospital being the location of the Regional Midwest Center of Information and Referral Center. The APDA National Young Onset Information and Referral Center in the United States is also at this location. Susan Reese works with our Board of Directors.

Parkinson Disease Current Information: Having both Dr. Michael Rezak and Susan Reese work with the Midwest chapter enables us to help the person with Parkinson's receive the most current information available through newsletters published 3 times a year to our members.

Time Out/Respite Care: The Midwest chapter offers some funds to help offset the costs of respite care to its members located in Illinois and northern Indiana region. A phone call to our office (847) 724-7087 or email us at apdamidwest@aol.com for more information.

Support Research
A Walk-A-Thon held each September has helped raise over a million dollars in the years of its existence.
For more information call Chapter Office (847) 724-7087.

Volunteer Opportunities
Our all volunteer board is composed of people with Parkinson disease and people with an interest in helping those with the disease.
